Mark Russell was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl on Thursday, Sept. 29, Methuen police said

The Methuen street crimes unit set up a surveillance operation near Lawrence Street after several people called them about drugs in their community. Officers were there around 1:30 p.m. on Arlington Street when they saw Russell drive up and make a suspected drug deal, authorities said. They found 37 grams of the synthetic opioid when they pulled him over a few minutes later, police said.

The Methuen Police Department thanked those tipsters and urged other community members to call the crime tip line at 978-983-8794 if they suspect someone is breaking the law.
